If you’re looking for a square inflatable hot tub that doesn’t cost the earth, then the SaluSpa Hawaii Inflatable Hot Tub makes a great choice.
UPDATE: You will often see this advertised as the Lay-Z-Spa Hawaii Inflatable Hot Tub. They are the same tub!
There’s something different and satisfying about leaning back into the corner of a spa that isn’t your usual circular shape. A big advantage of square hot tubs is that by sitting in the corners, they offer more lumbar support than a round hot tub can offer. This is something a lot of people, like us, who have back problems are appreciating more and more.
Be aware that even though the SaluSpa Hawaii is sometimes advertised as a 6 person spa, that doesn’t mean you can comfortably fit 6 adults in. That’s how many people can just about squeeze in and sit close together. If you’re looking to stretch out in your hot tub, then to be honest it’s better to see it as suitable for 2-3 adults or a small family.

SaluSpa Hawaii 6 Person Inflatable Hot Tub – What You Get In The Box
SaluSpa Hawaii inflatable hot tub
Our Tip: Be careful not to purchase the Lay Z Spa Hawaii 6 Person Inflatable Hot Tub. That is the older version of this model, and costs several hundred dollars more. The SaluSpa Hawaii is a much improved inflatable hot tub, and it is also better value.

Background Info
The SaluSpa Hawaii is made by the Bestway Corporation, who produce many of the best-selling inflatable hot tubs in the world. They’re expert at making high quality budget models, with lots of extra features, which cost under $500. With the SaluSpa Hawaii they have kept up their standards, and produced a good portable spa with lots of useful add-ons.
It’s also super-sturdy, made of Bestway’s 3-ply reinforced Tritech material, and it has an internal I-Beam construction. This is based on the girders-and-beams structures which are used in the construction industry. These give the hot tub a strength and durability that means that as long as you take care of your hot tub, then it will last you for years.
But even though it’s super-strong, the hot tub is still comfortable and relaxing when you lean back against the sides. It also has a soft cushioned floor, so you won’t need to buy cushioned seats as extras.
The massage system consists of a ring of 114 bubble air jets spaced out around the bottom of the hot tub, which give a strong all-over body massage. The system is controlled by the soft-touch digital control unit which sits just outside the hot tub within easy reach. This means you don’t have to get out to activate the massage system, you just lean over and let the soft-touch control panel do all the work for you.
Rapid Heating System
One other good feature of the SaluSpa Hawaii’s heating system is that you can have the water heater and the massage system on at the same time. Not all budget models have this capability, which some people see as a problem. That’s because when you use the massage system for any length of time in a hot tub, because you can’t have the heater on as well, then the water cools off a little.
With the SaluSpa Hawaii 6 Person Inflatable Hot Tub, however, you can keep the water heating at the same time as you enjoy your massage.
How To Set Up The SaluSpa Hawaii 6 Person Inflatable Hot Tub
The SaluSpa Hawaii is simple to set up, and requires no special knowledge or tools.
To start, choose a site where you want to put the hot tub. This needs to be flat, and clear of anything that could pierce or rip the hot tub.
Lay out the ground mat in the position where you are going to site your hot tub, then unfold the hot tub on top of the mat. Plug in the control panel to the mains electricity, and link the inflation hose from the control panel to the hot tub. Press the inflator button, and it will take around 10 minutes for the hot tub to inflate.
Once the hot tub is fully inflated, fill the hot tub with water using an every day garden hose. It will take between 20 and 40 minutes to fill the hot tub with water, depending on the force of your water system. If you want to cut down on the time it will take to heat the water, add in some hot water from your faucet.
When the water is up to the maximum fill line, which is marked on the inside of the hot tub, attach the control unit to the hot tub. Then put the inflatable cover over the hot tub. Now set the temperature you want the water to heat up to, and switch the heater on.
It will take up to 24 hours to heat the water to the maximum temperature of 104F, although this time will vary depending on the initial temperature of the water and the temperature of the ambient air.
Getting The Most Out Of Your SaluSpa Hawaii 6 Person Inflatable Hot Tub
Once the water is at your desired temperature, take off the cover and slip into the spa. The control unit is sited just outside the hot tub, so it is simply a matter of reaching over and touching the digital control panel to activate the air jet massage system.
Keep in mind that having the massage system on for any length of time does cool the water a little, as we mentioned, so you’ll probably need to switch the heater on as well, to give the heater a quick boost.
When you finish in the spa, be sure to put the cover back on. This will keep the heat in, and help cut down on running costs. Make sure you lock the the lid in place as well, to prevent children getting in unattended.
